August 2025. Slovenia is a country of two million people
that somehow has a medieval castle on a cliff, glacial water
so clear you can count the fish, and blokes rowing tourists
around in wooden boats like it’s the 1800s. The whole
place looks like someone colour-graded reality and forgot to
tell anyone. You walk around the lake, eat a cream cake that
has no business being that good, watch the Julian Alps turn
pink at sunset, and quietly start googling property prices.

A manhole cover. In Slovenia. Because I photograph everything, apparently.Water so clear you can see the bottom. And your life choices.Church on an island. In a lake. In the Alps. Slovenia’s just showing off now.Tourists doing the lake walk. Everyone pretending they’re not tired.Bled Castle on a cliff. Built there so the neighbours couldn’t complain about the noise.More lake walking. The Slovenians put paths everywhere and honestly, good for them.Castle on the left, church on the right. Slovenia squeezed a whole postcard into one frame.A mint-green Vespa. Parked on cobblestones. Next to ivy. It’s so European it hurts.Lake Bled through a gap between buildings. Like nature’s giving you a sneaky peek.Bled Castle framed by leaves. I didn’t plan this. The tree did.The Julian Alps behind the lake. Mountains that make everything else look like a speed bump.Wide shot of the lake. That tiny boat in the middle is having the best day of its life.People swimming, bikes parked, everyone relaxed. Slovenia on a Tuesday.Bled on a cloudy day. Still gorgeous. Annoyingly gorgeous.Bled Island from the water. The pletna boats look like they’ve been doing this since before electricity.A duck. Near some fishing rods. Both completely unbothered by the stunning Alpine scenery behind them.Autumn leaves over the lake. The kind of shot that makes people you went to school with hit the like button.A pletna boat doing its thing. Someone’s rowing tourists to a church on an island for a living. Not bad.Golden hour on the lake. The light’s so warm you could heat your flat with it.Bled Castle at sunset with the Alps behind it. The final shot. Because you can’t end on a manhole cover.
